Dissertation Fellowships The John C. Flanagan Dissertation Fellowship for 2008-2009 The Flanagan Dissertation Fellowships are intended to provide support to up to two Social Sciences PhD students as they complete their dissertations. The fellowship has been established by a generous gift from Ruth Flanagan to honor the memory of her husband, John C. Flanagan.
1. A letter of nomination from the department chair or graduate program coordinator 2. A letter of nomination from the chair of the student's supervisory committee noting: a. the significance of the candidate’s research b. the candidate’s qualifications for the fellowship c. progress on the dissertation to date d. assurance of degree completion within the specified time 2. A statement from the nominee describing the dissertation project, not to exceed three typed, double-spaced pages, and a detailed timeline for completion of the dissertation within the 12 month period 3. The nominee’s curriculum vitae. 4. The nominee’s dissertation abstract
