Thesis / Dissertation

Checklist

  1. At least three weeks prior to submitting the thesis/dissertation to the Graduate School, email the following pages to Graduate Education Services (GES) at gsstusrv@u.washington.edu for approval. GES cannot accommodate approval for these pages during finals week.

    1. Title Page [Sample] - Must include information as provided in the format guidelines. Your name, degree and program of study must match UW records.
    2. Signature Page - Master's [Sample] or Ph.D. [Sample] must be formatted exactly as samples appear in the guidelines.

  2. At least two weeks prior to submitting the thesis/dissertation, carefully review final submission instructions for master's theses and doctoral dissertations and prepare any relevant documentation required to submit with the thesis/dissertation (i.e..ProQuest/UMI forms, Survey of Earned Doctorates, etc.)

  3. Two weeks prior to submitting the thesis/dissertation, schedule an appointment* for your final submission with GES at gsstusrv@u.washington.edu or 206-543-5900. No appointments are scheduled during finals week but students are allowed to drop-in for final submission.

    *If you cannot attend your scheduled appointment, notify the Graduate School as soon as possible so we may schedule an appointment for a student on the waiting list.

  4. Approximately one week prior to submitting the thesis/dissertation, pay all associated fees as noted in the final submission instructions. Note: Theses/Dissertations will not be accepted for final submission unless proof (tuition statement) of fee payments accompany the document.

  5. No later than 4:30 pm on the last day of the quarter, submit 2 final copies of the thesis/dissertation to GES, G-1 Communications. Each copy must be delivered in a separate manila envelope with a copy of the title page taped securely to each envelope. All necessary paperwork as indicated in the final submission instructions must be completed and submitted with the document.
