Graduate Excellence through Diversity

Founded in 1970, the Graduate Opportunities and Minority Achievement Program (GO-MAP) is at the heart of the Graduate School’s commitment to expanding graduate education to underrepresented minoritized (URM) communities. GO-MAP helps create an inclusive and equitable campus environment through its focused efforts on the following:

  • Outreach and Recruitment
    • Prospective Student Days
    • Undergraduate outreach
  • Graduate Funding
    • $1.5 million in graduate funding, most commonly in recruitment dollars
  • Scholarship and Research
    • Dissertation and publication fellowships
    • RA funding
  • Advocacy, Consulting and Advising
    • Co-leads Graduate Departmental Diversity Committee meetings
    • Provides funding and feedback based on Departmental Diversity Plans
  • Educational, Personal and Professional Development Opportunities
    • Getting Connected
    • Power Hours
    • Real Talk Tuesdays
  • Social Networking Events
    • Spring Soiree
    • Staying Connected
    • Summer Social

While GO-MAP’s events and programming are geared towards graduate student of color, they are open to all University of Washington graduate students, faculty and staff, especially those interested in supporting and increasing a racially diverse graduate student population.
